How to prepare for an upcoming Pulmonary Function Test (PFT)
Arrive 30 minutes prior to your test to allow time for registration
Allow at least 45 minutes to one hour for testing
Important Test Instructions:
Refrain from smoking at least 6 hours before your appointment
Avoid eating a heavy meal at least 1-2 hours before your test
Wear loose-fitting clothing to avoid breathing restrictions
Do not take medications that affect lung function

Advair (Serevent and Flovent)
Severent (Salmeterol)
Dulera (Azmanex and Foradil)
Symbicort (Pulmicort and Foradil)
Foradil (Formoterol)
Brovana (Arfomoterol)

these inhaled medications
6 hours
before your appointment:
Atrovent (Ipratropium Bromide)
Combivent (Albuterol)
Duoneb (Albuterol and Ipatropium)

Proventil HFA
Ventolin HFA
