Cardiac Rehab
Cardiac rehabilitation combines exercise and education to help you return to an active and productive lifestyle after your cardiac event. You are eligible to participate in cardiac rehab after experiencing any of the following:
- Heart attack
- Coronary artery bypass
- Stent placement
- Stable angina pectoris
Phase I of rehab begins while you are still in the hospital recovering from your cardiac event. Phases II and III are offered as outpatient services and require a physician's referral.
At Ferrell, Dr. Nate Oldham, Medical Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation, meets with patients and supervises their progress. Each cardiac rehab session generally lasts 45 minutes to 1 hour and continues weekly for no more than 12 weeks.
Phase I - Inpatient Cardiac Rehab
This stage of rehab occurs while you are a patient in the hospital. We do not provide this level of rehab at Ferrell.
Phase II - Outpatient Cardiac Rehab
This program combines exercise and education to help you return to an active and productive lifestyle after your cardiac event. You are carefully monitored during the program, and activity and education are customized for each patient’s needs.
Phase II begins after discharge from the hospital and usually lasts 12 weeks. Your physician starts the process with a referral to cardiac rehab.
Phase III - Outpatient Cardiac Rehab
Phase III Cardiac Rehab is for graduates of Phase II, as well as other patients whose insurance may not cover Phase II. Participants in Phase III are closely monitored during exercise and have their progression guided by our knowledgeable staff. Each participant in Phase III has an exercise program designed specifically for them.
